Nella "House of Commons" siedono 650 parlamentari, chiamati "MPs", eletti per votazione diretta del popolo nelle rispettive circoscrizioni elettorali, le "constituencies". Le sessioni del Parlamento sono presiedute e moderate dal presidente della Camera, lo "Speaker". Alla "House of Lords", i cui poteri sono più limitati, in passato si accedeva per nomina o per carica ereditaria mentre ora le cariche ereditarie sono state ridotte e in futuro verranno abolite.
